BENFLEET CRICKET CLUB Benfleet 1st XI v Buckhurst Hill on Sat 28 May 2005 at 13:30
BENFLEET CRICKET CLUB Lost 8 wickets
Benfleet 194-4
Buckhurst Hill 195-2
Bucks Hill won by 8 wickets.
Well another defeat but a much more positive performance, we set Bucks Hill a total of 194 in our 52 overs this was mainly due to a fine batting performance from young Ray Gipson (68) and another streaky knock from the skipper (62). We were all a little disappointed not to have got to 200 but were happy that we had competed. I won't discuss how Proph got out but lets just use the words of the great man Adler "It was a shambles" - truly great piece of umpiring that left Andy literally lost for words.
When we took to the field we again went passed the batsmen's edge on numerous occassions and a few very hard catches went down. Milesy took his regulation 1 wicket and Puppy or should we say the Croc took a "splendid" catch off a long hop from the skipper. They reached their total with 6 overs to spare and we continue to go in search of our first league victory.
Lads we must keep working for each other and keep believing that luck will shine on us, stay positive and keep working on our games.
