Benfleet won the toss and decided to bat. After a steady start they lost John Hearn for 15 with a total of 47 on the board. A partneship of 121 between Peter Reeve and A.Brady with the later being next out for 72. Skipper Povey joined Peter Reeve who was out in the 42nd over for a well constructed 76. Meanwhile the skipper was scoring a rapid 59 not out in 9 overs before declaring the side on 254 for 3 in just 43.5 overs.
Grant Handley (3 for 23) and L,Wilson (1 for 23) opened the bowling and soon had Billericay in trouble at 46 for 4. M.Acraman had a steady spell picking up one wicket. Billericay then had a small recovering before collapsing after drinks break with S.Handley picking up two wickets in and over. The last two wickets falling to a run out and a hitman Hearn wicket
