Benfleet won the toss and inserted Ardleigh Green 5th XI on a wet wicket and slow outfield. Grant Handley soon had them in trouble with three wickets in his opening spell. Then whilst Ron Steed wheeled away with 16 overs for just 17 runs but no wickets (except a run out), Steven Reeve (2 for 7) and then Sam Handley (1 for 17), who baffled Ardleigh Greens the batsman removed the middle order. On 52 overs Ardleigh Green had no option but to bat on but the returning Grant Handley removed the last 3 wickets in the same over, all bowled and Ardleigh Green were all out for 84. Again 5 excellent catches contributed to this good effort.

After the early loss of the Chairman for just 5, the two Brady boys saw about the Ardleigh Green bowling in a rapid manner and the 85 runs needed were achieved in just 13.1 overs.
